Workshop Description

The availability of mobile access everywhere is promising to augment learning space, as it provides learners a new way to communicate, collaborate, and interact. Therefore,computer- supported ubiquitous learning is an emerging trend to acquire or share knowledge. Through a variety of digital devices, learners can easily turn anywhere outside the classroom into an informal learning space. As learners become increasingly digitally literate, education needs to be reshaped by considering the innovation and support of virtual learning spaces. As foreseen, innovative design of learning space has a great potential to enhance learning, especially for escalating motivation and engagement. We expect to receive those studies relevant to innovative design of learning software, applications or evaluation methods for learning spaces.

Topics of Interest

The following topics are encouraged but are not limited to:

  • technology enhanced learning with mobile device
  • augmented/virtual reality in e-learning
  • collaborative learning with social networks
  • e-book learning applications
  • sensory context-aware learning environments

Workshop Organizers

Yueh-Min Huang (Department of Engineering Science, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan):

Yueh-Min Huang is currently a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Engineering Science at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan. He is also Dean of College of Health and Information at Chia-Nan University of Pharmacy and Science in Tainan. His research interests include e-learning, artificial intelligence, web-based learning, sensor network, embedded system. He received his Outstanding Research Award of e-learning from National Science Council in 2011.

Shu-Chen Cheng (Computer Science and Information Engineering, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taiwan):

Shu-Chen Cheng is an assistant professor in Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Tainan. Her research interests include e-learning, mobile learning, artificial intelligence, data mining, information retrieval and image processing.

Maiga Chang (School of Computing and Information Systems,, Athabasca University, Canada):

Maiga Chang is an associate professor in the School of Computing Information and Systems at Athabasca University, Canada. His researches mainly focus on mobile learning and ubiquitous learning, museum e-learning, game-based learning, educational robots, learning behavior analysis, data mining, intelligent agent technology, computational intelligence in e-learning, and mobile healthcare.
